Battle of the Bands

Stage Select is partnering with FFX Theater & Bridge the Gap Collective to host a Battle of the Bands event at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The competition will commence with approx. 30 minute performance by the host band, Stage Select, a local video game rock band in support of other original local band acts who wish to gain the opportunity to showcase their talent to their community in a professional environment. Come out and show Virginia Beach that you are serious about your act!

  • 1st Place will win 10 hours of studio session time at Locke IN Key Productions (A $500.00 Value)

  • 1st Place will win an exclusive performance at a later date at the FFX Theater.

  • 1st Place Cash prize pool of half of Battle of the Band ticket sales.

  • Runner-up will win a spot as the opening act for the 1st place band’s next show.

Tickets:

(Half of the ticket sales will go to the 1st place band as a cash prize the other half will go to support the venue which is a Non-Profit 01(c)(3) organization. Federal Tax ID # 82-3804573.)


Judging Process:

There will be a panel of judges who will vote along with audience members voting their favorite.


Band Information:

All bands should expect a festival style performance line up. **Bands should prepare approximately 25-30mins of material. Performance time slot per band: approx 35mins (this includes set up & sound check but time can vary)**


Equipment Availability:

Drums will be available.

88-Key Keyboard will be available.

There will be stage sound and stage monitors available.

There will be 2 microphones available. (Please bring more if your act requires more.)

4 Microphone Stands. (3 Boom Arm 1 traditional)


FAQ:

Q. Is there a cost for bands to perform? AKA (Pay to Play or Pay to Perform).

A. No. Competing performers do not need to pay anything inorder to participate. Sign up your band and wait for further instructions. When you are accepted as a performing act you will receive an invitation email. After that bring your instruments and bring your fans!


Q. Why is there a ticket cost to attend, I can get entertained for free somewhere else?

A. Talent, creativity, and entertainment have value. The fee for this event goes right back into supporting that community providing you their valuable service.


Q. Will there be a sound guy?

A. Yes, someone will be running sound for the stage and house.


Q. Is there a bar on site &/or can I get my drink on?

A. Yes. The venue does serve alcohol.


Q. I was asked to perform what time should bands arrive?

A. Bands should plan to arrive between 5pm-6:30pm. Box office opens at 6:30pm show starts promply at 7pm. Doors will be closed at 7pm.


Q. Is there a ramp or an elevator for gear/loading?

A. Sorry, only stairs. T_T!!
